From Print to Pixel

New project
Museums & the Public

Photography is omnipresent. With the amount of images and technologies growing daily, new ways of using them are emerging. Images can always be read within a social context and they make changes visible. Last but not least, this change also has an influence on our respective roles in their production, reception and distribution, which demand new skills.
With support from the Migros Pioneer Fund, Fotomuseum Winterthur’s “From Print to Pixel” project is launching a next-generation museum offering. Together with various audience groups, skills are being developed for critical reflection in dealing with photographic images. Various online and offline channels, events and workshop will open the museum to the public as a place for discussion.
“From Print to Pixel” is working together with partner institutions such as the Musée de l’Elysée in Lausanne to create a nationwide network, and all the findings of the pioneering project are shared freely. With increased awareness of the impact of photography, an understanding of the zeitgeist will also grow. The self-determined, reflective and creative use of media allows us to look to the future with confidence.
